The figure walked slowly towards him. He felt his belly, it was turning. The mysterious shadow was a man, a few metres away now. However Sam didn’t wait that long. There was a creepy silence. Just as the man approached the terrified boy… Sam fainted. he could feel someone lifting him up and away. Sam arrived back in his house. Later on, his mum told him that the mysterious man under the house was his long lost brother that he hadn’t seen since birth. He was in hospital but got better, and Sam never was scared in his house again.

He walked backward feeling his way, it was extremely dark in the tunnel so he couldn’t see a thing. Apart from the strange figure standing in front of him. He started to jog, then run, he couldn’t see, he came to a wall blocking his exit. The figure was coming closer and he couldn’t defent himself.

He was extremely frightened; the night was as black as a bat. Sam was thinking back of when his mother had had a burglar in her old house. Maybe the burglar had come back again? Sam tried to feel the next step, but fell, straight through the carpet! What was he standing in? He was in a large tunnel, his bare feet soaked to the rim. The noise seemed to be in front of him, moving. He was trembling all over with fear. He stopped. What was in front of him? It was a large figure with hands at their sides looking straight at HIM.

Sam hesitated at the top of the stairs, blinking sleepily in the darkness. The blackness below was absolute, there was no light at all. The light switch was out of reach, way back across the landing. There was the noise again. The rest of the house was silent. What was it?
